Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence Say 'I Do' in a Private Ceremony, Bringing Two Comedy Legends Even Closer
In one of the most feel-good celebrity updates of the year, Hollywood legends Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are now officially family!
Yep, you read that right—Eddie’s son, Eric Murphy, just married Martin’s daughter, Jasmin Lawrence. The couple, who’ve been together since 2021, decided to skip the big wedding and went for something more intimate and meaningful.
A Quiet Ceremony, Full of Love
During a recent episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, Eddie Murphy spilled the beans about the surprise wedding.
“They got married like two weeks ago,” he said. “Everyone was planning a big wedding, but they just wanted something quiet. They went off to a church—just the two of them and the preacher.”
Even though they skipped the traditional big day, Eddie hinted there might still be a celebration soon: “There will probably be a big party later.”
And in classic Eddie Murphy style, he joked that Martin Lawrence must be happy he didn’t have to cover the cost of a lavish event.
A Love Story That Feels Like Destiny
Eric and Jasmin first made headlines as a couple in 2021. Surprisingly, they didn’t meet through their superstar dads—despite Eddie and Martin starring in movies like Life and Boomerang together.
In a 2022 interview, Jasmin shared, “It wasn’t even our dads who introduced us. We met through my uncle and instantly connected.”
Their love blossomed, and in November, they announced their engagement with a beautiful candlelit proposal video on Instagram. Jasmin captioned it: “We’re engaged!! God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny.”
Proud (and Hilarious) Parents
Martin Lawrence has described Eric as a “great young man,” and Eddie Murphy jokingly told CBS Mornings that if the couple has kids, he expects them to be naturally funny.
With two comedy legends for fathers, this next chapter in Eric and Jasmin’s story is sure to be filled with laughter, love, and maybe a few punchlines along the way.
